Detail of Confluence #102. The artwork references the meeting of two rivers, and in this case, the merging of two concepts that I have been developing over time. This more land-oriented work combines qualities of my previous Aurora series which evoked the wind, light and the aurora borealis. The number #102 in the title references musical compositions and the number of aluminum tubes in the work. In the same way a river presents different qualities when viewed from bank level versus an aerial view, Confluence #102 offers an aerial view as the tubes are cut on 57-degree angles to create a riverine form. From two other angles, the work will appear wedge-like, shifting as the viewer circles the piece.
