Commonwealth Club Exhibition
Commonwealth Club Curatorial Statement by Robert Melton:
Sculpture of the Pacific Rim is a regional exhibition showcasing sculptures from the Pacific West Coast. This is the first sculpture exhibition to be featured at the newly built Commonwealth Club in San Francisco at the Embarcadero Waterfront. The Club is the nation’s oldest and largest public affairs forum hosting many distinguished speakers. It is a great honor to debut Sculpture of the Pacific Rim at such a world-renowned institution. The exhibition showcases the fine craftsmanship of west coast artists working with different materials and artistic processes. The works range from small to large and include figurative, bronze, mixed media, organic, wall hanging, and freestanding works. Thematically, the works touch upon a range of subject matters and ideas; some invite contemplation while others are playful and whimsical -- all presenting a sort of narrative about the human experience and our quest for understanding and making sense of the world we live in. The art invites the viewer to “Seek the truth which will set you free.”
