Aluminum and plexi installation sculpture
Cosmos II: Small Spiral
Plexiglas, aluminum, powder-coated steel rods and base
8’ h x 4’ x 30”
2015

Cosmos II: Small Spiral is the fourth piece in my Aurora series and alludes not only to the aurora borealis' curtain of light, but also to the formation of a spiral galaxy and its whirlpool-like structure, along with the cycle of universe as seen in the expansion and contraction of celestial bodies. I sketched out my designs while watching videos of the aurora borealis and after viewing different images of galaxies and a petroglyph. The rod lengths reference musical scales and intervals.
